Owning a Dog in Lakeview East

"What's that bluetick doing in Chicago?" I heard the lady say in a thick, Southern drawl. I was walking Jake and Milo this evening after some showings, when she spotted Jake, my bluetick coonhound, from about a hundred feet away....in the dark. You won't find many of his breed in this part of the country, so it's rare that someone recognizes him. Lakeview East has one of the densest dog populations in the US. It is also home to the Belmont Harbor dog beach, one of the 18 Chicago Park District sanctioned Dog Friendly Areas in Chicago. Most shops and banks in the area will allow your dog to accompany you, but the same cannot be said about the apartment and condo buildings. In fact, as a dog owner, you'll find that very few buildings are even willing to consider allowing a dog to live there! And when you find those buildings, your dog usually must be below a certain weight limit. As a dog owner myself, I understand these frustrations.
